Let us remember Elijah; how in obedience to Gods urging, preached repentance to the
people and they, in response, egged on by the learned priests, sought to kill him.
And he hid in a cave!, defeated and discouraged. God came to him and said,

Haushaben is a vision for "End Times" community based on the standards and beliefs of the
Early Church and the Anabaptist restorationists of 500 years ago, (AMISH, MENNONITES and
HUTTERITES). Our first community, called SHILOH, is located in northern Maine. It is a working
farm in progress, including a 96' greenhouse! We grow most of our food ( all organic). So,
Haushaben is the vision, SHILOH COMMUNITY is the first fruit of that vision!
Early Church and the Anabaptist restorationists of 500 years ago, (AMISH, MENNONITES and
HUTTERITES). Our first community, called SHILOH, is located in northern Maine. It is a working

PLAIN - ANABAPTIST - RADICAL HOLINESS
SHILOH COMMUNITY is a place of haven from this dying world; a place where the Holy Spirit, manifesting ALL of
His gifts, can heal the wounds you've received from the world. A place where Christians can gather in victory over ALL
sin and satan. A place where we all work together; no titles, no bosses...ONLY BROTHERS AND SISTERS!
A place with no property; where all is shared in common as did the early Church and Anabaptists.
A place where doctrinal differences fade away as we work and pray and dream together...and acknowledge how the
early Church dealt with such issues. As we strive to live as "the clouds of witnesses" above did, imitating them as
Paul said, and find that we too "can turn this present world upside down!"

We seek singles, couples, (children too); seniors including those brothers and sisters with handicaps. Come visit and see for yourself if this is what God is calling you to. We all work as able and the men always "Do the Dishes". We believe, as did Eberhard Arnold, that "WORK IS LOVE MADE VISIBLE". So call, arrange a visit and work with in the fields,the shops and kitchen, (We won't charge you for your stay, nor pay you for your work...here, we are truly all brothers and sisters ). Lastly, let us be clear about an issue that divides and saddens untold numbers of sincere Christians...the issue of divorce and remarriage! We DO accept such as brothers and sisters , feeling the issue of separation from loved- ones is as painful for them (and us), as was the issue that confronted King Solomon. |

HAUSHABEN, a German word meaning "to have a house or home". During the period 500 years ago known as the Reformation, Anabaptists used this word as a sort of password to identify safe refuge from the cruel persecution dealt to them by Roman Catholics and Protestants alike. Anabaptists believed that the Church needed restoration back to the early Church. |
Before you read further; consider this. We strive to live Holy and righteous lives before God and our neighbors. We have a good reputation with those in the world about us. We do not hold to the theology of "sin we must". We believe, as did the Church, that our Savior Jesus came and died to free us from sin, not "in sin". Amidst all the theologies that abound most have compromised with the world, seeking it's approval, thinking they are still in Gods Way. That is for the Father to decide. We wish to live obedient lives, separated from all that encumbers our witness. This is what is lacking and is the reason for the Church of Jesus Christ being so lack-luster and , frankly, dead! |
